One message for everyone. A single letter from leadership, included in every gift. You tell us who it is for and what you want them to hear.
Dear Human Letters
The words that go with the gift.
Many gifts arrive with a card that could have been written to anyone. We write the message that goes inside: a note or letter composed for one particular person, from what the sender tells us about them. We write the words, and you deliver them with the gift.
What you receive
A food platter gets eaten and a hamper gets used up, but a letter can be kept long after both are gone.
The sender completes a short questionnaire about the recipient, covering who that person is to them, what they have noticed or remember about them, and anything the sender would rather we left out. From those answers, we write a message that sounds like the sender at their most attentive.
Individual clients may request their letter as a PDF on the Dear Human letterhead. Organisations and gift partners receive an editable Word document for use with their own branding. We handle the writing and digital delivery; printing, packaging and physical delivery stay with you.
Every letter you commission through Dear Human Letters is written by Femi. Earlier this year, Femi wrote more than 20 commissioned letters for Valentine’s Day, for husbands, wives, friends and colleagues.
The Short Note
₦15,000
About 300 words. Fills a folded insert or a printed page rather than a small card.
The Full Letter
₦25,000
About 500 words.
Each package is written for one named recipient. A campaign message for every gift, or separate messages for different groups, is quoted according to the brief.
Who sends these letters
People write to us when they know exactly what they feel and cannot find the words for it.
Sometimes the feeling is love, from a husband who has noticed more about his wife this year than he has ever told her. A congregation sending its pastor a hamper may want words to go with it, written down, because saying them aloud would never carry everything the members feel. Parents may want to thank a teacher at the end of term for everything poured into their children since September. Children in the diaspora may send a little love home in words, alongside the gifts they send their parents. Old friends use them to close the distance a busy year has opened.
Workplaces have their own reasons to write. A team lead may want to thank the colleague who held a project together when everyone else was ready to let it go. Management may want the finance department to know that the long nights at year end did not pass unnoticed.
Whatever the occasion, the gift shows that someone remembered, and the letter tells the person why.
Dear A,
Ejika mi, the one who makes my garment fit, my undying source of motivation. When people compliment how I look or my upward trajectory, I smile and quietly say, “It’s because I married a woman who complements me.”
B.
Dear C,
I cannot recall ever sending you a gift, yet your friendship is a treasured gift to me. … I do not remember a time when I made the world stop so you could get ahead, yet on countless occasions, you have paused your life just to make sure I am fine.
D.
Dear E,
Before you joined the company, I was just a guy who wanted to do my work and get on with it. … I transitioned from a guy who couldn’t wait to give routine feedback at all-hands meetings to one who could now patiently and confidently share my thoughts.
F.
To our developers,
Every line of code you wrote this year moved this company forward, including the lines nobody outside your team will ever see. We do not say it often enough, but we know how much of what we do now rests on what you built. You matter to us, and in the coming year we intend to keep proving that, in more than words.
The Management
The questionnaire
A Word document you fill in at your own pace
On a phone or a computer, without needing to stay online. Depending on the letter, it asks questions such as:
- Who is receiving the letter, and what are they to you?
- What occasion are you marking?
- What do you admire, appreciate or remember about them?
- Is there a particular moment, contribution or milestone worth mentioning?
- What should they feel or understand after reading?
- Is there anything we should avoid?
For corporate briefs, the questions are adapted to the organisation, the people it wants to reach and what it wants to say. The more the sender tells us, the more specific the letter can be.
Working with your business
For organisations and gift partners
Corporate organisations
You can choose the level of personalisation that suits your gifting plans. What you gain is a gift that recognises people for something they actually did, so it says as much about the organisation that noticed as about the person who receives it.
Separate messages for different groups. Distinct letters for staff, clients and partners, or for particular departments, each written to its own audience.
Individual letters for chosen people. A personal letter for each person you want to recognise, written from a questionnaire completed for that person. Teams can also commission a letter for a colleague or manager who made their year better.
To begin, you send us a brief describing the people or groups you want to reach. We agree the number of messages, the fee and a delivery date with you, and return each message as an editable Word document for your team to print on your own letterhead.
Gift, souvenir, hamper and food-platter businesses
Many of your customers know what to buy but not what to say. A letter lets you offer customers something more personal than a printed card, without hiring a writer. You pay our standard rate for each letter and set your own selling price, so the difference is yours.
- Offer a Short Note or Full Letter when a customer places an order.
- Send the customer our questionnaire, and forward the completed answers to us with payment at our standard rate.
- For single orders, we return the finished letter as an editable Word document within 24 hours; larger orders follow a schedule we agree with you.
- You print it in your own style and include it with the gift.
Your customer deals with you throughout, and we deal only with you. If a customer’s answers are too thin to write from, we will tell you what more we need, and the 24 hours begin once the answers are complete. Revision requests come to us through you as well.
Ownership and use
An individual letter is written for one named recipient, and that is the use it is commissioned for. For a campaign or group message, the quotation covers the writing and its use across the recipients of that campaign: you may print it as many times as you need, add each recipient’s name and adapt the layout. Using it again for a later campaign is agreed separately.
December 2026
Dates and terms
| Order | Confirm by | Delivered by |
|---|---|---|
| Corporate: individually personalised letters | Friday 27 November | Friday 11 December |
| Corporate: campaign and group messages | Friday 4 December | Friday 11 December |
| Individual and gift partner orders | Sunday 20 December | Monday 21 December |
An order is confirmed when the completed questionnaire or brief and payment have both reached us. Corporate commissions are accepted in the order they are confirmed. Before the closing dates, individual letters are delivered within 24 hours, and bulk orders follow a schedule we agree in advance.
All commissions are paid 100% upfront, and writing begins once payment is received. One round of revisions, based on the original brief, is included. Details shared in questionnaires are used only to write the letter.
Beyond December
The service continues after Christmas. Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day bring their own rush of gifts, and birthdays, anniversaries, promotions and retirements come all year. A gift business that adds letters in December can keep offering them on the same terms.
To begin, email us with the kind of gifting you are planning, roughly how many people it will reach, and when you need the letters. We will send the questionnaire and, where needed, a quotation.
Warm regards,
Femi Fragile
